Glenwood Man Sentenced To 36 Months In Prison For Possession With Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA – On March 27, 2012, David Andrew Stump, age 58, of Glenwood, Iowa, was sentenced in United States District Court in Council Bluffs for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey sentenced Stump to 36 months in prison, to be followed by 2 years of supervised release. The Court also ordered Stump to pay a $100.00 special assessment for the Crime Victim Fund. Stump was allowed to self-surrender to the Federal Bureau of Prisons to serve his sentence.
On June 1, 2011, a State of Iowa search warrant was exercised at Stump’s residence in Glenwood, Iowa, by local law enforcement officers. Seventeen (17) grams of actual methamphetamine was found, along with small amounts of other drugs and indicia of distribution of drugs.
On August 3, 2011, while Stump was on release pending trial on the first charge, local officers executed a second search warrant at Stump’s residence. As a result of this search, local officers seized 6 grams of actual methamphetamine and other indicia of drug distribution.
A federal Superseding Indictment was returned on August 24, 2011. On December 6, 2011, Stump entered a guilty plea in federal court to one of the two counts of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
This case was investigated by the SouthWest Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force, the Mills County Sheriff’s Department, and the Glenwood Police Department. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
